Happy New Year
Lucky Indalos can wish "Good luck for the New Year""

Our friends around the world all have wonderful and different traditions for welcoming the New Year. In Rio de Janeiro, people go to the beaches to watch fireworks and take a midnight dip in the water, offering flowers and a wish to the goddess Lemanja. The English look to the "first-footer," or the first person to step foot into their house, to tell them how next year's luck will be. The Danes and the Germans look for fish at New Year . . their folklore says that  herring should be eaten at midnight to ensure luck.

Do you know someone who could benefit from some good luck wishes at New Year?

New Year's Day marks the Festival of Saint Basil in Greece, where children leave their shoes out to be filled with gifts. St. Basil's bread is baked with small trinkets inside, bringing luck to those who find them. Italians hang mistletoe over the front door to bring good luck. Women in Mexico wear red underwear if they wish to marry in the New Year, and pink is worn by pregnant women to bring luck to the baby. Those hoping to travel, carry an empty suitcase around the block. Many people in Spain and Latin countries eat 12 grapes at midnight, as a bell is rung 12 times. Each grape represents a month of the year. By eating them at midnight one hopes to have happiness and luck for the next 12 months.

In Bulgaria, the holiday celebrations start with Christmas and end with Epiphany, January 6, and the whole fortnight is dedicated to making wishes, giving blessings and engaging in soothsaying about luck and prosperity throughout the New Year. Holiday cheese pie is essential. A silver coin is placed in it for luck and prosperity and a piece of cornel tree for good health. Special buns are baked in the shape of circles, horseshoes or a figure-of-eight. The Jewish New Year is called Rosh Hashanah and it takes place in early fall. People eat apples and honey for a sweet year to come. The Chinese New Year (in February) follows the lunar calendar when they eat lucky foods:  Noodles, symbolising a long life, and dumplings which resemble gold nuggets.

The Indalo shape (whether it be classical like Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, or spiritual as in the Rainbow Warrior of the ancient North American Indian Cree tribe), is a popular symbol (like the clover leaf, horseshoe, or scarab) used to pass on good luck sentiments to friends and family.

Our lucky charms
come from Almeria in southern Spain close to where the original Indalos were discovered. This is a region of ancient culture believed to be the origin of the Neolithic civilisation that spread up into the whole of northern Europe between 4000 and 2000 BC - and the beginning of a megalithic era that was one of the great periods of Spanish and European history and included the construction of the mystical monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury in Britain. Cave paintings of Indalo-type shapes mingle with representations of suns, spirals, animals and labyrinths, each with their own mystical and esoteric meaning.

Pass on your good luck sentiments to friends or loved ones . . TODAY!

The Indalo is reputed to have mystical powers to bring luck, good fortune and happiness. So . .

Many of the lucky charms on this site are hand-crafted and so although the colour, size, etc, can vary a bit from the photos shown here, it is used as a recognised but unique way to express goodwill wishes and desires. The accompanying information card about good luck and the Indalo can be personalised with your own special message.

The gift of an Indalo is perfect . . saying Good Luck, Congratulations, Best Wishes, With Love, or Thinking of You . . in its own special way.
